Nachdem die letzten Jahre lautstark verkündet wurde, im Yellowstone würden die Wölfe die Grasfresserbestände "natürlich" regulieren, und der Wapitibestand mangels Fernwandermöglichkeit (die natürliche Reaktion auf Rudelprädatoren) massiv eingebrochen ist, nehmen jetzt die Bisons überhand, die zwar auch von den Wölfen gejagt werden, aber anscheinend nicht so leicht zu knacken sind.
Deshalb lässt die Parkverwaltung jetzt 550 Bisons töten.
Ist das jetzt widernatürlich, oder die Rückkehr des Menschen zu seiner teilweisen Jäger-Natur?

Gleichzeitig will B.C. seinen Wolfsbestand im Karibu-Gebiet um 80% reduzieren, weil die verbliebenen Karibuherden durch die stark gewachsene Zahl der Wölfe vor dem Zusammenbruch stehen.
Ein entsprechender Versuch im Bereich der Southern Mountain Caribou Herde hat in den letzten Jahren den gewünschten Erfolg gebracht.

Alles nicht so einfach mit dem sogenannten Rewilding, das in Wahrheit nur eine Gleichgewichtsverschiebung nach menschlichem Gutdünken ist. Ohne wieder einen großräumigen Herdenzug zu ermöglichen, was durch die menschliche Infrastruktur auf absehbare Zeit unmöglich geworden ist, kann es auch kein "natürliches" Zusammenspiel zwischen Rudelprädatoren, Pflanzenfresserherden und Grasland mehr geben.

Das Umweltministerium unterstützt Anschaffung von wolfsabweisenden Zäunen innerhalb der Förderkulisse Wolfsprävention ab sofort zu 100 Prozent.

„Für den Erhalt unserer einzigartigen und artenreichen Kulturlandschaft brauchen wir die Weidehaltung. Daher ist es mir wichtig, die Halterinnen und Halter von Schafen und Ziegen darin zu unterstützen, die mit der Rückkehr des Wolfs verbundenen Herausforderungen zu meistern“, betonte Umwelt- und Naturschutzminister Franz Untersteller.

Many of you have seen the fence-line photo of the holistically managed Kroon family ranch in South Africa, but you probably haven't seen the Google Earth view. Well, here it is.

Pardon me if I'm losing my patience with the Savory slammers. The efficacy of Holistic Management is obvious from both the ground and from space as anyone with eyes and a brain can assess. To continue to parrot anti-Savory, anti-Holistic Management, and anti-grazing as a soil and climate solution sentiments, is not only intellectually insulting, but, also, morally repugnant. I would not want to be George Monbiot of The Guardian or Tara Garnett of the Food Climate Research Network (FCRN) at University of Oxford in the years to come - the two leading disparagers. They are decidedly on the wrong side of this ledger.
Let it be known, I will debate either or both of them at any time and in any format. Can you say, "gauntlet?"

The paper suggests that the global potential carbon drawdown may be quite larger than previously estimated, where restorative grazing had not been factored. It is suggested that 25 to 60 ton of carbon per hectare (t C/ha) may be sequestered on semi-arid grasslands and savannas, representing a transition from highly degraded to fully restored landscapes. The global potential is estimated to be in the range of 88 to 210 gigatons (Gt), with a CO2 equivalence of approximately 41 to 99 ppm, enough to significantly mitigate global warming.
